R3M3X – mexperiments

…almost music, but not quite...

This collection of 15 tracks is less a traditional album and more a laboratory of sound. Working under my alias R3M3X, I treat each piece as an experiment — a chance to test ideas, stretch rules, and see what emerges when curiosity leads the way.

The journey begins with four tracks from the Sample2Song-Challenge 2020. In that challenge, every participant was given a single, short, often random sample and had to transform it into a full track. What you hear in those first pieces is the joy (and frustration) of making something expansive out of almost nothing — sculpting music out of scraps.

The rest of the collection moves beyond the challenge into territory I’ve always wanted to explore: sketches that had been sitting in my head for years, half-formed ideas that finally found their shape, and sonic experiments that blur the line between composition and noise. Some of these tracks were built entirely by hand, while others lean on AI for inspiration and virtual vocalists.

Together, they form a set of works that may not fit neatly into any one genre or style. They are playful, messy, sometimes raw, and always searching. They’re experiments first, music second — almost music, but not quite…
